Featured Volunteer: Kathy Galvin

After moving from Marin County to Seattle for work, Kathy Galvin, RScP, arrived in Sonoma County in 2017. She attended the Catholic Church until age 22, and she reports knowing about Science of Mind from her mother.  Kathy practiced Buddhism for over twenty years in mid-life. Then, on a recommendation from a friend, checked out CSL Seattle, where she reports being “cautiously delighted.” Kathy took classes, and became a Practitioner.  At our Center, Kathy reports feeling “blessed and hurtled into new understandings galore” from Dr. Edward’s inspired ways of explaining things. Her volunteer activities include secretary to the Practitioner Core, and anything to do with writing and editing, such as contributing to the Sunday Bulletin, proofing Dr. Edward’s new book released in June, editing the monthly Senior Minister’s report, revising many Education Ministry forms, writing affirmations, and “compulsively telling people when they have a typo or are grammatically incorrect...

Featured Volunteer: Juanita Ortegon

Juanita first discovered Science of Mind in 1992, and reveled in learning through taking classes. After spending several years in Marin County, she returned to Santa Rosa in 2015 and immediately began attending and offering service at CSLSR.  She reports that the Center feeds her soul and opens her heart. She delights in volunteering as an usher; serving as lead usher; training new ushers on behalf of Donna Starr, Center Logistics Manager; serving in hospitality Sunday mornings; serving in the Education Ministry and as a greeter at Wednesday Evening Wisdom services; and serving as a greeter on Sunday Mornings, when possible.  She relished her time serving on the Board of Trustees. Juanita reports volunteering is her way of giving back for what she has received in plentiful abundance toward her spiritual growth through classes and Sunday services. She shares, “There is so much love here. I feel it when I walk through the doors.”  This Community wishes to than...

Featured Volunteer: Rebecca Emerson

You will see Rebecca’s welcoming face volunteering in hospitality, as an usher, power point operator, and filling in for the Logistics Manager, Donna Starr, in her absence. Rebecca also enjoys many behind-the-scenes roles that give her an understanding of the term “Spiritual Center.” She has made many friends here and takes pleasure in the sense of belonging that comes with volunteering. Thank you, Rebecca, for all that you do.
