Jan Davis - Why I am Grateful

I often hear our Center described as “a spiritual community that promotes global transformation through personal transformation.” I know I’ve been personally transformed at the Center through the weekly messages, classes, and mostly through the path of volunteering.

Volunteering has introduced so many wonderful people into my life and given me chances to share my talents. Even more than that, volunteering gives me opportunities to practice the spiritual tools I’ve learned, and so many opportunities to learn about being a better person in relationships.

I am grateful for everything that volunteering has brought into my life, and deeply grateful for the actions of so many other volunteers who create the Center so I can be lifted up each week.

Someone puts out the cones and signs in the parking lot well before I arrive on Sunday morning. Some loving voice answers the phone when I call. Someone cleans up the leaves in the parking lot. Someone takes care of the children. Someone creates the beautiful decorations on the stage. Someone organizes the amazing classes and workshops that are offered. Someone repairs the plumbing when it leaks. Someone creates the recordings of the services. Someone maintains the website. Someone visits when you’re sick. Someone is always praying.

So many loving hands and hearts in action. So many unseen faces. So many expressions of selfless service.

I am grateful.

Jail Ministry Gratitude

We would like to publicly recognize and celebrate the incredible dedication of Susan Bennett, Rosalie Sulgit-Shay, and Tamarya Hulme - who have tirelessly served in our community’s jail ministry. For the past six years, these women have committed themselves to visiting incarcerated individuals every week, bringing with them compassion, hope, and spiritual guidance. Their unwavering presence has provided comfort and a sense of dignity to those who are often overlooked, offering a light in some of the darkest moments of these individuals' lives. Their work is a powerful reminder of the impact that loving-kindness, faith, and consistent support can have in transforming lives. Let us all take a moment to honor and thank them for their extraordinary service and the difference they have made in our community. Thank you.

Chandra Farnsworth "I am so grateful.."

Chandra Farnsworth's current volunteer role is serving on the Giving Intention Team (GIT). Two of the major annual duties of this team are: Planning and implementing the annual Fall Giving Intention Process, in which we ask congregants to estimate their upcoming annual giving plan to the Center. Reviewing and vetting nominations for our Nonprofit Partners for the upcoming year and making the recommendation to the Board of Trustees. Chandra especially enjoys being the liaison with the Nonprofits. Assisting them in preparing the beautiful videos we feature each month and welcoming and hosting the nonprofit guests who visit to meet and greet our congregants in the social hall.
