Linda O'Rear - Volunteering Is Connecting

As part of the giving intention team, we are always finding new and creative ways to appreciate the members of our community. Volunteering has taught me the value of knowing and seeing our spiritual family. I love to quietly work behind the scenes to facilitate an event. Volunteering for me is connecting and connecting fills me with so much love for the Center and even beyond the Center.

Volunteering brings people together who share a common goal of making a positive impact on the world. This collective effort creates a sense of community and belonging, providing a supportive and nurturing environment. By working alongside like-minded individuals, we develop meaningful relationships and friendships, expanding our social circles and forging connections that can enrich our lives. Being part of a community that shares our values and aspirations can contribute to a profound sense of spiritual fulfillment.

The Center for Spiritual Living, Santa Rosa (CSLSR) Jail Ministry is a team of dedicated volunteers who visit individuals incarcerated at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility (MADF) where approximately 700 people await trial or retrial. Many are confined to their cell 23 hours a day, sometimes for years. Each week, we visit those who request connection, offering compassionate presence and spiritual support.
