Blast from the Past: Celebrating Our 2006 Volunteers and Uncovering Their Legacy

Hello, dear community!

In today’s edition of "Blast from the Past," we're spotlighting a group of dedicated volunteers from 2006. This photo not only captures their spirit of service but also poses a delightful challenge: identifying who these volunteers are, the team they served on, and where this photo was taken.

Interestingly, two of these volunteers are still actively serving on the same committee today, a testament to their unwavering commitment and passion. This continuity offers a vital clue in unraveling their identities and roles within our community.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the photo. The setting might provide hints about where it was taken.

If you’ve been part of our community for a while, you might have directly interacted with this team. Here's another clue: if you have ever received a card from us, it’s very likely that these are the wonderful people behind those thoughtful gestures. Their work in crafting and sending cards has been a cherished way of connecting and sharing kindness within our community.

So, I invite you to join in this nostalgic journey. Do you recognize any of these faces from 2006? Can you guess which committee they have been a part of? And if you’ve ever received a card from us, share your experience! It’s a great way to appreciate the personal touches that these volunteers have been adding to our community life.

This blast from the past is not just about recognizing faces from a photo. It's about celebrating the continuity and dedication of our volunteers who have been the heartbeat of our community for years. Their service goes beyond mere participation; it's about creating a legacy of kindness and connection.

Please share your guesses, memories, and stories in the comments below. Let’s honor these unsung heroes of our community and reminisce about the wonderful moments they have helped create.

Looking forward to your delightful responses and stories!

Warm regards,

Edward Viljoen, Senior Minsiter

Jail Ministry Gratitude

We would like to publicly recognize and celebrate the incredible dedication of Susan Bennett, Rosalie Sulgit-Shay, and Tamarya Hulme - who have tirelessly served in our community’s jail ministry.  For the past six years, these women have committed themselves to visiting incarcerated individuals every week, bringing with them compassion, hope, and spiritual guidance. Their unwavering presence has provided comfort and a sense of dignity to those who are often overlooked, offering a light in some of the darkest moments of these individuals' lives. Their work is a powerful reminder of the impact that loving-kindness, faith, and consistent support can have in transforming lives.  Let us all take a moment to honor and thank them for their extraordinary service and the difference they have made in our community.   Thank you.

Blast from the Past: Rediscovering Connections within Our Larger Community

Hello everyone! In today's "Blast from the Past" feature, we're exploring more than just a photo from our archives; we're diving into the heart of our larger community. This image captures a group of individuals who represent a specific community within our community. But who are they, and what special group do they belong to? As we look back, I invite you to scrutinize the photo and see if you recognize any of these faces. Each person here has played a role in shaping a particular segment of our community, contributing to its unique character and activities. The event captured in the photo also holds significance. Do you recall what this gathering was about? Were you there, and what memories do you have of it? This event and the community it represents have likely been on hiatus, especially with the challenges posed by the pandemic. However, the good news is that this is about to change, and we are gearing up to meet in person once again. For those of you who are...

Chandra Farnsworth "I am so grateful.."

Chandra Farnsworth's current volunteer role is serving on the Giving Intention Team (GIT).
